Inspired Living: Cape Charles

Life is a balance – sometimes it’s good to go somewhere quiet and relaxing to refresh your body and mind. It’s good for your health. It’s helps you find inspiration. It’s just plain good. And that’s what I did Memorial Day weekend. Visiting Cape Charles was just what I needed!

Cape Charles is a charming bayside town filled with unique shops, bed & breakfasts (I highly recommend Fig Street Inn!), delicious treats (Brown Dog Ice Cream is amazing), natural beauty (take in one of their stunning sunsets on the beach), and friendly folks. Visit them sometime soon!

Melissa Lew jewelry was recently featured in the Spring issue of Stationery Trends (The National Stationery Show (NSS) issue) as a great green find under $50! It’s easy to gift (and be!) green – these “earth-friendly offerings leave a smaller footprint as they go easy on the wallet as well.”

Asian Pacific American Heritage Month

May is Asian Pacific American Heritage Month – a celebration of Asians and Pacific Islanders in the United States. As a descendant of immigrants, this celebration of our culture and past is extremely meaningful to me.

I’m honored to be a part of many Asian institutions such as AsiaStore at Asia Society in New York City, the Chinese Historical Society of America in San Francisco, Lan Su Chinese Garden in Portland, Oregon, the Wing Luke Museum in Seattle, and the China Institute in New York City. If you happen to be visiting any of those cities, please stop by and spend some time taking in their extraordinary exhibits.

First on First at the Heurich House Museum

On the first Friday of every month, the Heurich House Museum hosts First on First Features, a celebration of the local creative community. Visitors are invited to explore the first floor of the beautiful and historic Dupont Circle home of DC brewmaster Christian Heurich, shop pop-ups and listen to live music. Free to the public and part of First Friday Dupont (from 6pm to 8pm).

In honor of Heurich’s entrepreneurial spirit, this event features a selection of local creatives each month. This month, PinUp Preserves and Melissa Lew jewelry will be featured in the museum’s Conservatory. Please stop by Friday evening – I will be showing my newest cherry blossom designs – perfect for celebrating the cherry blossom festival season in style!

New Products: Notecards

Thank you to everyone who attended my artist meet & greet this past Saturday at AsiaStore at Asia Society during Asia Week New York! It was wonderful meeting everyone and thank you for allowing me to share my love of art and Chinese culture with you.

I also introduced a new line of inspired notecards at my meet & greet that are now available for purchase at AsiaStore! These meaningful notecards (printing on recycled stock with vegetable inks) are a wonderful way to say hi or send well wishes.
